The
role of the Toastmaster
There is
no doubt that the friendly formality of a red-coated Toastmaster can
make all the difference to a Wedding Reception, whether it takes the
form of a sit-down meal or a buffet, and whether it is held in a
hotel, public hall or in a garden marquee.
The
presence of a Toastmaster means that the Host and Hostess together
with the Bride and Groom are relieved of any concerns about
"who does what" and "what happens next". They
can relax and enjoy themselves with their guests, in the knowledge
that everything will run smoothly in the capable hands of a
professional Toastmaster who has officiated at hundreds of similar
functions. The
duties of a Toastmaster at a Wedding Reception (for example) include
the following: The
Line Up Arranging
the Bride and Groom, and their respective parents in the most
suitable place and in the correct order to receive their guests Announcing
clearly to the Host the names of each guest as they arrive Caterer
& Photographer Liaising
and cooperating with the Caterer and Photographer for a smooth
hassle free operation The
Meal Announcing
the Bride and Groom, and escorting them to the top table and
announcing grace before meals Organising
and announcing the cutting of the Wedding Cake Prays
silence and announcing the speeches and toasts Announcements Making
announcements that may be required, relaying messages, handling any
problems that may occur and coping with the unexpected Finally... Unless
the Bride and Groom are staying on for the evening, the Toastmaster
assembles the guests at the appropriate time to give the happy
couple a good "send off" |
